London Critics’ Circle Award Winners

Screen Shot 2013-01-22 at 17.37.39

It’s an Amour love-in for the London Critics’ Circle. And the rest of the winners are rather lovely, too, even if the acting wins are for the most part on a par with what we’ve already seen during this year’s Oscar Race.

But London felt it was right to applaud Rust And Bone, The Imposter and Berberian Sound Studio which the Oscar nominations left out completely, with recognition also going to the wonderful Andrea Riseborough.

With a couple of other well-deserved wins for British talent, check out the full list of winners below: Continue reading

Denver Film Critics Society Award Winners

Screen Shot 2013-01-09 at 15.31.03

Denver, Denver, Denver. How you bore me. But at this point in the game surprises don’t hold much weight, with this all but confirming those we expect to see in tomorrow’s Oscar nominations.

However, it’s a tad unfair to say this list of winners bores me when it actually makes me more excited about Argo’s chances come February.

Check out Denver’s picks below: Continue reading

Alliance Of Women Film Journalists Award Winners

Screen Shot 2013-01-09 at 13.47.40

The Alliance Of Women Film Journalists really do crack me up. Don’t get me wrong, I love being a woman, but some of the categories these ladies use to reward feminism or slap the hand of those who aren’t doing us many favours are downright hysterical.

Zero Dark Thirty is their outright winner (it led the nominations) and the other acting awards don’t defer from what we’ve already seen, but with awards such as ‘Kick Ass Award For Best Female Action Star’ and ‘Actress Most In Need Of A New Agent’, you need to give this list of winners a proper look – even if they do piss all over my love of Anna Karenina.┬áBut they do give Adam Sandler a stern telling off and, at present, that can only be a good thing.

North Texas Film Critics Association Award Winners

Screen Shot 2013-01-09 at 12.34.14

North Texas love a little bit of Abraham Lincoln. Not Timur┬áBekmambetov’s version, though. They bloody hate vampires.

Lawrence, Jones and Hathaway continue their streak and the wonderful Untouchable takes another award for Best Foreign Film.

There’s not a great deal to look at, but check out North Texas’ winners below: Continue reading

Online Film Critics Society Award Winners

Screen Shot 2013-01-08 at 19.10.30

After leading the nominations, it’s no surprise that Paul Thomas Anderson won Best Director, but apart from Philip Seymour Hoffman’s award, it doesn’t really make much of a mark here.

Daniel Day-Lewis and Jessica Chastain are old news and mortal locks for Oscar nominations, with their respective chances of walking away with the grand prize on the night rather easy to visualise.

Argo took Best Picture and Anne Hathaway wins another trophy for what is surely one of the world’s largest mantlepieces. Cloud Atlas (yeah, you heard – still so excited about seeing this), Skyfall and Moonrise Kingdom are also recognised.

Critic Circle Update: Because I Got Slack, And That.

San Francisco, Satellite Awards, Chicago, St. Louis, Indiana, Toronto, Florida, Dallas-Ft. Worth, Austin, Black Film Critics, Utah, Dublin, Women Films Circle – I feel I may have neglected you slightly.

With thirteen different lists of winners to report back on, well, I’ll keep it brief, but a list of Best Picture, Director, all four Acting winners, Best Screenplays, Cinematography, Documentary, Animation and Foreign Film can be found below.

It’s mainly all about Zero Dark Thirty and Daniel Day-Lewis as expected, but there are some interesting wins to pick up on (namely thanks to Toronto) and prizes to whoever finds The Artist hidden within.

Check it all out below: Continue reading
