2011 London Film Critics’ Circle Award Nominations

I really like these nominations. Possibly more than any other batch so far, simply because the LFCC have been willing to think OUTSIDE THE BOX. It’s not a hard thing to do, but The Golden Globes (whose nominations I haven’t even posted) could seriously learn a thing or two here. Drive and Tinker Tailor lead the way and more recognition has been given to Margaret and A Separation. The best category has got to be Breakthrough British Filmmaker Of The Year – how would you even start to judge that?! Check out the full list of nominations below: Continue reading

2011 Broadcast Film Critics Association Award Nominations

The BFCA have done two things that make me very happy. They’ve given a hell of a lot of love to Drive (eight nods, in fact) and they’ve nominated Nick Nolte for his absolutely heartbreaking performance in Warrior, a film that will be showcased when I eventually write up my Top Ten of 2011. Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy has been left out entirely which is more than a shock and it’s interesting to see Andy Serkis get yet another nomination for Best Supporting Actor. 2011 St. Louis Gateway Film Critics Association Award Nominations

Next, it’s St. Louis’ turn to have their moment in the limelight. Notice the additions of My Week With Marilyn as a Best Film contender, David Fincher for Best Director and love for Rooney Mara and Saoirse Ronan. The Best Supporting Actor nominees are the most varied we’ve seen so far and I’m loving the Troll Hunter inclusion. Check out the full list of nominees below: Continue reading

2011 Houston Film Critics Society Award Nominations

Ok. This is the end of a very long day in regards to Awards and nominations. But Houston is a very interesting place to finish as it’s thrown a couple of real curveballs. And they lie mainly in the Best Supporting Actor category. Say hello to Andy Serkis, Alex Shaffer and Armie Hammer. Melissa McCarthy still seems to be popping up left right and centre. Don’t know quite how I feel about that. Check out the full nominees below: Continue reading

2011 AFI Top Ten Films

The American Film Institute have announced their Top Ten Films of 2011. Interesting to see that the currently embargoed Girl With The Dragon Tattoo was allowed to creep in there. How closely will this relate to January’s final Oscar nominees? We will just have to wait and see. Check them out below: Continue reading

The Great Trailer Debate – Week 5

It’s definitely fair to say that we have rather a mixed bag for you this week, with comedy, action, drama and thrillers all covered in last week’s trailer releases. So, without further ado, Nadine and I (check her blog out here) bring you Wrong, John Carter, The Sitter, The Grey, War Horse, Shame (TRAILER OF THE WEEK) and Wish You Were Here. Continue reading
