Vancouver Film Critics Circle Award Winners

And just after I mentioned how The Master seemed a little lacklustre in my last post, it takes Best Actor, Supporting Actor and Actress from Vancouver. But it’s still all about Zero Dark Thirty and the wrath of Bigelow, taking four awards from this set of Canadian voters. And this is very much a Canadian affair, with some awards simply for homegrown talent – loving the Sarah Gadon win.

2011 Vancouver Film Critics Circle Award Winners

Hello, Canada calling. More love for Fassbender here with another win for Shame and Elizabeth Olsen gathers another accolade for her work in Martha Marcy May Marlene. There’s some prizes specifically for Canadian films which draws our attention to Cronenberg’s A Dangerous Method, Michelle Williams (away from Marilyn) and Peter Stomare. 2012 Vancouver Film Critics Circle Award Nominations

Time to move to Canada. Vancouver have constructed their noms a little differently, opting for a less conventional three in each category (aside from Best Documentary and Best Screenplay). This has resulted in the inclusion of Fassbender and Shannon alongside Dujardin, with Olsen replacing what can only have been Swinton’s slot.
