2012 Saturn Awards – Nominees

The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films has announced the nominees for this year’s Saturn Awards. Coming on the tail-end of the Oscars, they almost hold two fingers up to the Academy, nominating the sort of film that wouldn’t usually get a whiff of recognition, all leading to a rather interesting set of nominees. If the presence of Limitless, Thor and The Lincoln Lawyer doesn’t get you interested then there’s something wrong with you and check out that Best Supporting Actor category! However, I must warn you that Hugo has a vast dollop of nominations, but it’s alright when there’s so much love for Tintin and a nom for Attack The Block. Check out the full set of nominees below: Continue reading

The Great Trailer Debate – Week 7

It’s been another pretty busy week for trailers and for the first time Nadine and I have disagreed on our favourites of the week. Next week – we’ll put it up a few days after Christmas – is the biggie, though, with The Dark Knight Rises (I lied when I said we’d do that this week!), The Hobbit AND Prometheus. Mental. So, as ever, take a look at what’s below and let us know if you disagree with our opinions! We have Men In Black 3, ParaNorman (NADINE’S TIED TRAILER OF THE WEEK), The Flowers Of War, G.I. Joe: Retaliation, Perfect Sense, Rock Of Ages, Jack The Giant Killer (NADINE’S TIED TRAILER OF THE WEEK), Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance, Expendables 2, Salmon Fishing In The Yemen (EMMA’S TRAILER OF THE WEEK), Lock-Out, The Dictator and Casa De Mi Padre. Oh, and if you hadn’t already guessed, it’s Ewan McGregor week. Continue reading

The Great Trailer Debate – Week 1

Trailers come and trailers go and, to be fair, a lot of people don’t watch them unless they happen to be spliced onto the front of whatever film you’ve gone to see at the cinema. But that couldn’t be further from the truth in regards to Nadine (find her blog here) and I. So, we’ve decided to bring you The Great Trailer Debate, a bitesize and easy to digest way of glancing over what the week’s had to offer. This week we cover Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, ParaNorman, The Lorax, Shame, American Reunion, We Need To Talk About Kevin, Wanderlust, Underworld Awakening, Safe House and 21 Jump Street. And remember – a good trailer doesn’t necessarily bring us a good film. Continue reading
