Trailer Talk: Spidey Rebooted, Wheelchair Dancing, Doctor Who And The Apocalypse

Yes, yes, yes, I apologise again for my laptop not loving me. As I posted a while back, it gave up on me, so I haven’t been able to post anything! So I’m sorry they’re so late, but I wanted to put them up anyway! So, soldiers, spiders, Jeremy Renner, Doctor Who, crazy Nazis, wheelchairs, Osama Bin Laden and the apocalypse – let’s talk trailers. 2011 National Society Of Film Critics Award Winners

The National Society Of Film Critics apparently speak the truth, once every twelve months. Yes, I think it’s great recognition has been given to The Tree Of Life, Gary Oldman and Margaret, but I can’t say I agree with anyone giving Melancholia the prize for Best Picture. But that’s just me. Check out the full list of winners below: Continue reading

2011 Broadcast Film Critics Association Award Nominations

The BFCA have done two things that make me very happy. They’ve given a hell of a lot of love to Drive (eight nods, in fact) and they’ve nominated Nick Nolte for his absolutely heartbreaking performance in Warrior, a film that will be showcased when I eventually write up my Top Ten of 2011. Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy has been left out entirely which is more than a shock and it’s interesting to see Andy Serkis get yet another nomination for Best Supporting Actor. Check out the full list of nominees below: Continue reading

2011 Detroit Film Critics Society Award Nominations

Best Director nods for both Drive and Take Shelter? This is my kind of Society!! It’s all pretty straight forward, but Detroit obviously love Gosling as they’ve given him recognition in the Best Supporting category for Crazy, Stupid, Love, bizarrely. It’s also interesting how it’s Felicity Jones and not Elizabeth Olsen who is included in both Best Breakthrough and Best Actress, but I’m expecting the love for Olsen to grow come January. As always, check below for the full list of nominations:

2011 Los Angeles Film Critics Association Award Winners

I’m going to be pretentious for a second and show my love for The Tree Of Life’s wins. I bloody loved that film (read my review here) and am glad someone sided with Malick for Best Director. It totally deserves its wins for Cinematography, but something tells me it won’t all play out how I want come January. Also so glad with the amount of recognition Jessica Chastain is getting for her insanely impressive breakout year – and checkout the cheeky nod to X-Men: First Class in regards to Fassbender. Love it. It’s only really the winners for Best Film and Best Actress that are surprises, with a nice shout in regards to Best Screenplay. But anyway, check out the winners in full below: Continue reading
