The 17th Annual Critics’ Choice Movie Awards – Winners

It’s safe to say by this point that I am completely convinced The Artist will win the Best Picture accolade at the Oscars. I also think it deserves to. Its four wins here, including Best Picture and Director, help cement its position as firm favourite, with the only potential upset seeming to come from The Descendants or Scorsese taking Best Director. But I doubt it.

Viola Davis got her first major award of the season for her stunning work in The Help, which was also rewarded with two further wins (though I can still see Chastain snatching it from Spencer). It’s still a little hard to call Drive an ‘action’ film, but I’ll take any and all prizes that come its way, with The Muppets’ win also thoroughly deserved. The only huge surprise is in the Best Documentary category – although I’m not particularly happy with the tie for Cinematography, which should be The Tree Of Life or nothing.

2011 Georgia Film Critics Association Award Winners

Georgia are infatuated with Malick’s The Tree Of Life, handing it six awards here. They are also the first group to give the Best Actress prize to Juliette Binoche for Certified Copy. Naturally I’m also very happy with the Best Ensemble being awarded to the fabulous Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. And yes, Brad Pitt did win twice. Check out Georgia’s faves below: Continue reading

2011 Alliance Of Women Film Journalists Award Winners

These Awards genuinely crack me up. A mixture of Razzies, Teen Choice and serious, well-thought out nominees, they’re a lot of fun amongst some of the more predictable Awards that have been presented over the past few weeks. There’s a lot of prizes here, ranging from Best Picture to Actress Most In Need Of A New Agent to Kick Ass Award For Best Female Action Star and I’m glad to see wins for Shame, proving (as it rightly should) that it isn’t a sexist film in any way. However, the last Award has to be the best. Check out the full list of winners below: Continue reading

2011 National Society Of Film Critics Award Winners

The National Society Of Film Critics apparently speak the truth, once every twelve months. Yes, I think it’s great recognition has been given to The Tree Of Life, Gary Oldman and Margaret, but I can’t say I agree with anyone giving Melancholia the prize for Best Picture. But that’s just me. Check out the full list of winners below: Continue reading

2011 Central Ohio Film Critics Association Award Winners

Central Ohio love Drive. They love Nicolas Winding Refn and Ryan Gosling and I don’t blame them. I just wish more Associations and Societies were brave enough to give it the attention it deserves. Away from Drive’s wins here, check out the Best Actress category and cheeky little wins for Source Code and Hanna. As ever, check out the full list of winners below: Continue reading

2011 Internet Film Critics Society Award Winners

Although Drive isn’t your typical action flick, I’m happy with anyone who gives it recognition, resulting in the IFCS getting some extra brownie points from me before I realise they’ve also rewarded the brilliant Attack The Block. It’s a pretty short and sweet little selection, but check out the additional Best and Worst of 2011 categories, as well as wins for both Rooney Mara and Bellflower. As ever, check out the full list of winners below: Continue reading

The 23rd Annual Producers Guild Awards – Nominations

This whole Tintin ‘animated’ debacle is still confusing me a little. IT’S NOT ANIMATED. And Jamie Bell told you this himself. I’m a little sad that The Tree Of Life didn’t get a mention and I guess I was far too hopeful to expect to see Drive pop up. But Bridesmaids sure seems to have sticking power. Check out the full list of PGA nominations below: Continue reading
