The 40th Annual Annie Award Nominations

AnnieAwards__121203160948

It’s alliteration a gogo for the announcement of the 40th Annual Annie Awards.

Brave, Wreck-It Ralph and Rise Of The Guardians lead the nominations, with Hotel Transylvania and ParaNorman not too far behind. It’s a strong set of nominations for Disney, with John Carter and The Avengers also lurking on the sidelines.

As for who to put your money on in regards to the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, well, I think it’s pretty safe to say it’s a two-horse race between Brave and Wreck-It Ralph.

Check out the full list of nominations (minus anything TV-related) below: Continue reading

Trailer Talk: My Big Fat Marvelgasm, Claymation Ghosts, The Hoff And Disney’s Attempt At Dubstep

I love this week’s selection of trailers, which you may find surprising seeing how I’ve actually been a little harsh towards some – very unlike me, I know. But there’s such a brilliant mix to choose from, including some great animation, thrillers, comedy and some not so great ones. But hey, that’s all part of the fun. This week Nadine and I look at (deep breath please) The Stath, the supernatural, that pesky John Carter again, more Marvel characters than you can shake a stick at, David Hasselhoff, Snoop Stiller, Adam Sandler’s weird career, a resurrected canine, little yellow minions, morticians, American Football, claymation ghosts, John McClane and Superman, coming of age indie quirkiness and Norwegian murders. Let’s talk trailers: Continue reading

The Super Bowl Spots According To Scott – Part 2

So, after posting Scott’s reaction to the Super Bowl Spots for Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance and G.I. Joe: Retaliation here, we return with Part 2 of the Comic Book related Spots – The Avengers and John Carter (or John Catheter as he so lovingly referred to it earlier). And, yes, I am well aware John Carter isn’t technically from Comic Book or Graphic Novel origins. Part 3 will be Nadine rounding up The Hunger Games. See what Scott had to say below: Continue reading

Trailer Talk: A Double Dose Of Taylor Kitsch, Marvel And The Devil

This week we have a double dose of Taylor Kitsch, a Marvel mash-up, exorcism, natural disasters, the problems with war, cancer, women you wouldn’t want to bump into down a dark alley, murderous hilarity, and a double dose of horror to finish. Let’s talk trailers: Continue reading

The Great Trailer Debate – Week 5

It’s definitely fair to say that we have rather a mixed bag for you this week, with comedy, action, drama and thrillers all covered in last week’s trailer releases. So, without further ado, Nadine and I (check her blog out here) bring you Wrong, John Carter, The Sitter, The Grey, War Horse, Shame (TRAILER OF THE WEEK) and Wish You Were Here. Continue reading

Empire Big Screen Round Up

Last weekend I spent three days at the O2 in London at Empire Big Screen.

A weekend full of screenings, panels and special guests, there is too much to simply put into print. So I thought a video would do nicely.

After turning my camcorder on and rambling for an hour or so, I finally managed to edit it down to two fifteen minute videos.

So please have a listen and make sure you join me next year!
