I am well aware that everybody else posted their ‘Best Of 2011’ lists at, well, the end of 2011 or back in January, but I wanted to be a little different. Mainly because I still had a fair few films to catch up on and because I wanted to compare my list to what the Academy deemed ‘fit’ and what eventually won.

No, this is my Top Ten and simply that. And I’m pretty sure a lot of you won’t see my #1 coming – unless you follow me on Twitter (@iamnotwaynegale) in which case you’ve probably known for a while!
So, as usual, please leave comments if you want to argue this thing out – you’ll definitely realise I’m a sucker for big performances as opposed to big films – and check out my Top Ten below, starting with the films that didn’t quite make the cut: Continue reading

After reviewing Welcome To The Rileys for its DVD release (read more about that back on my home page), I was incredibly lucky to have the opportunity to talk with the film’s director, Jake Scott. A very candid interview, he talked about everything from why he chose Kristen to how he researched the themes present throughout and the Jeff Buckley biopic he’s got up next. Check it out over at HeyUGuys, here.

On Monday the 9th, HeyUGuys sent me to Claridge’s in London where I live-blogged the entirety of the War Horse Press Conference with Spielberg, Kennedy, Hiddleston, Irvine, Watson, Morpurgo and Curtis. It was an incredible morning and a lot of information was given in regards to the process and love Spielberg has for this project.

Please check out the transcript of the Q&A I attended last night on Shame. It was a really interesting insight into the project and the process that went with it. But be advised – it’s heavy spoiler material. Shame is out on Friday, so once you’ve seen it, check back here and read the Q&A. All you need to do is click here!

On Thursday I was lucky enough to go to a fantastic event at Manchester Town Hall, put on by See Film Differently (check out their website here). Used as a stand-in for the Houses of Parliament, it was a perfect venue with a specially curated exhibition featuring stills from the movie and costumes worn by Streep herself. The wonderful HeyUGuys sent me to the event, so to check out my review and see whether Meryl is destined for Oscar glory, just click here!
