Screen Shot 2013-01-09 at 16.11.47

Now, I’m sure you’re pretty sick and tired of hearing peoples’ two cents on today’s BAFTA nominations and how they might correlate with tomorrow’s (well, today now) Oscar nominations, yadda yadda, blah blah blahhh.

So I’m simply going to post the list of nominations below with no preamble. That can come with whatever tomorrow’s Academy Award nominations bring!

2012 Saturn Awards – Nominees

The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films has announced the nominees for this year’s Saturn Awards. Coming on the tail-end of the Oscars, they almost hold two fingers up to the Academy, nominating the sort of film that wouldn’t usually get a whiff of recognition, all leading to a rather interesting set of nominees. If the presence of Limitless, Thor and The Lincoln Lawyer doesn’t get you interested then there’s something wrong with you and check out that Best Supporting Actor category! However, I must warn you that Hugo has a vast dollop of nominations, but it’s alright when there’s so much love for Tintin and a nom for Attack The Block. Check out the full set of nominees below: Continue reading

Trailer Talk: Killing The Kardashians, Turtle On A Plane, Lots Of Gangsters And David Bowie

Gangsters, Turtle on a plane, cows, Mel Gibson in Mexico, the end of reality TV, improv and drugs, the Welsh and Bowie, a double helping of Sigourney Weaver and Dexter Fletcher’s directorial debut – let’s talk trailers: Continue reading

Trailer Talk: Space Nazis, Michael Caine On A Bee, Tasmanian Tigers and Nic Cage

This week we look at Nazis on the Moon, pygmy elephants, Joe Gilgun’s gammy eye, Tarsem’s attempt at Snow White, Cillian Murphy in Spanish, Nic Cage going batshit crazy (again), Willem Dafoe doing his best Liam Nesson impression, Liam Neeson doing his best Willem Dafoe impression, some dogs and a film called Black Butterflies which lies to us. There’s no butterflies. Let’s talk trailers: Continue reading

2011 Vancouver Film Critics Circle Award Winners

Hello, Canada calling. More love for Fassbender here with another win for Shame and Elizabeth Olsen gathers another accolade for her work in Martha Marcy May Marlene. There’s some prizes specifically for Canadian films which draws our attention to Cronenberg’s A Dangerous Method, Michelle Williams (away from Marilyn) and Peter Stomare. Check out all the winners below: Continue reading

2011 Alliance Of Women Film Journalists Award Winners

These Awards genuinely crack me up. A mixture of Razzies, Teen Choice and serious, well-thought out nominees, they’re a lot of fun amongst some of the more predictable Awards that have been presented over the past few weeks. There’s a lot of prizes here, ranging from Best Picture to Actress Most In Need Of A New Agent to Kick Ass Award For Best Female Action Star and I’m glad to see wins for Shame, proving (as it rightly should) that it isn’t a sexist film in any way. However, the last Award has to be the best. Check out the full list of winners below: Continue reading

2011 Central Ohio Film Critics Association Award Winners

Central Ohio love Drive. They love Nicolas Winding Refn and Ryan Gosling and I don’t blame them. I just wish more Associations and Societies were brave enough to give it the attention it deserves. Away from Drive’s wins here, check out the Best Actress category and cheeky little wins for Source Code and Hanna. As ever, check out the full list of winners below: Continue reading
