2011 Vancouver Film Critics Circle Award Winners

Hello, Canada calling. More love for Fassbender here with another win for Shame and Elizabeth Olsen gathers another accolade for her work in Martha Marcy May Marlene. There’s some prizes specifically for Canadian films which draws our attention to Cronenberg’s A Dangerous Method, Michelle Williams (away from Marilyn) and Peter Stomare. 2011 Alliance Of Women Film Journalists Award Winners

These Awards genuinely crack me up. A mixture of Razzies, Teen Choice and serious, well-thought out nominees, they’re a lot of fun amongst some of the more predictable Awards that have been presented over the past few weeks. There’s a lot of prizes here, ranging from Best Picture to Actress Most In Need Of A New Agent to Kick Ass Award For Best Female Action Star and I’m glad to see wins for Shame, proving (as it rightly should) that it isn’t a sexist film in any way. However, the last Award has to be the best. Check out the full list of winners below: Continue reading

2011 National Society Of Film Critics Award Winners

The National Society Of Film Critics apparently speak the truth, once every twelve months. Yes, I think it’s great recognition has been given to The Tree Of Life, Gary Oldman and Margaret, but I can’t say I agree with anyone giving Melancholia the prize for Best Picture. But that’s just me. Check out the full list of winners below: Continue reading

2012 Vancouver Film Critics Circle Award Nominations

Time to move to Canada. Vancouver have constructed their noms a little differently, opting for a less conventional three in each category (aside from Best Documentary and Best Screenplay). This has resulted in the inclusion of Fassbender and Shannon alongside Dujardin, with Olsen replacing what can only have been Swinton’s slot. We also see Melissa McCarthy pop up once more for Bridesmaids. I’m still a little confused by this… Check out the full list of nominees below: Continue reading

2011 Online Film Critics Society Award Winners

Yes, OFCS, you may collect £200 and pass go. I said last week that I rather loved their nominations and the winners are pretty agreeable too. Swinton and Fassbender’s respective wins are hardly going to upset anybody and it’s great to see The Tree Of Life rein back some of The Artist’s attention. 2011 Detroit Film Critics Society Award Winners

Boring….. Apart from Fassy winning for Shame. Oh, and Mulligan winning for it too. Good job McQueen. Continue reading

2011 Online Film Critics Society Award Nominations

The Online Film Critics Society have one of my favourite Best Supporting Actor selections to date. And their addition of Dunst and Olsen in the Best Actress category definitely hasn’t gone unnoticed. Von Trier gets a Best Director nod – an absolute rarity. If his ‘snubs’ have merely been due to the Cannes confusion, the Academy need to man the hell up.
