2011 Austin Film Critics Association Award Winners

The love for Hugo and Tilda Swinton has returned with the Austin Film Critics Association’s winners. Refn gets more love for his direction on Drive and it’s Take Shelter that Chastain gets rewarded for this time around. That woman’s going to need a bigger mantlepiece. Oh, and what’s that? Attack The Block got a little bit of cheeky recognition for its score? Check out the full list of winners below: Continue reading

2011 Online Film Critics Society Award Nominations

The Online Film Critics Society have one of my favourite Best Supporting Actor selections to date. And their addition of Dunst and Olsen in the Best Actress category definitely hasn’t gone unnoticed. Von Trier gets a Best Director nod – an absolute rarity. If his ‘snubs’ have merely been due to the Cannes confusion, the Academy need to man the hell up. 2011 Utah Film Critics Association Award Winners

It’s official – Utah love Drive. Like, really love Drive. So much so that they’re even willing to give the film the prize for Best Cinematography, resulting in The Tree Of Life having to make do with Runner-up. As much as I love Refn’s film, I can’t quite deal with that… Other interesting choices include Gordon-Levitt for Best Actor and Amy Ryan for Win Win. The rest of it is all pretty straightforward. 2011 St. Louis Gateway Film Critics Association Award Winners

It’s really great to see Drive still firmly in people’s minds, even if only on the periphery in anything other than Best Supporting Actor. The winners here aren’t anything out of the ordinary, but it’s interesting to see Mara rewarded for The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and it really does make me think she could have eclipsed Noomi’s Lisbeth. But that’s hard to imagine! Apart from that, check out Alan Rickman’s nod further down with the rest of the winners below: Continue reading

2011 Las Vegas Film Critics Society Award Winners

Las Vegas have chosen their winners and it’s all about Drive and The Artist, with Refn winning his first Best Director Award of the campaign – cheers Las Vegas. Melissa McCarthy gets another win for Bridesmaids and it doesn’t look like her run’s going to stop just yet. Check out the full list of winners below: Continue reading

2011 St. Louis Gateway Film Critics Association Award Nominations

Next, it’s St. Louis’ turn to have their moment in the limelight. Notice the additions of My Week With Marilyn as a Best Film contender, David Fincher for Best Director and love for Rooney Mara and Saoirse Ronan. The Best Supporting Actor nominees are the most varied we’ve seen so far and I’m loving the Troll Hunter inclusion. Check out the full list of nominees below: Continue reading

2011 Indiana Film Journalists Association Award Winners

Yep. Sorry, more Awards to discuss. This time it’s the IFJA and they’ve decided to mix things up a little by drawing attention to Ralph Fiennes in the Best Actor category. I’m also liking the inclusion of Viola Davis as Best Supporting here, as I never fully understood why she’s being pushed towards the Best Actress category. Check out the winners below: Continue reading
